Some of the South West's most innovative technology companies from the SETsquared Business Acceleration Centre at the University of Bristol presented their businesses at this entrepreneur event to prospective investors at the event in Goldney Hall, which attracted more investors and delegates than in the previous five years.In a time of economic instability, the SETsquared Centre in Bristol has seen a doubling of applications to join the programme and a doubling of investment activity into its member companies, seeing over £40 million invested in the last 18 months.
Business Investment Event
SETsquared's annual Investment Showcase in London is an investment event, entrepreneur event, and networking event that presents around 20 of its ventures to around 150 venture capital and angel investors. The investment event, aimed at raising investment for early- stage companies, can provide a vital step for your business as you seek to develop and commercialise your ideas. Companies that have participated in these investment events over the past five years have raised over £70m.
SETsquared also holds investor events in Surrey through the Surrey 100 Club and in Bristol with its annual investor garden party.
The SETsquared Partnership
The SETsquared Partnership consists of five leading UK research universities - Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey. Between them, the 7,400 academics working at these universities are responsible for ten per cent of the UK's Higher Education research budget. The Partnership supports the growth and success of new business investment opportunities through spin-outs, licensing and incubation. It also works with industry through research collaboration and consultancy.
The SETsquared Partnership develops new businesses from university research ('spin-outs') and supports early-stage, technology companies with high growth potential from the wider business community. The Partnership also provides access to UK and US markets through international collaboration.
